MPHI and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) launched the electronic application process for the Michigan Drug Assistance Program (MIDAP) in April 2017. This program assists with costs for HIV-specific related medicines and vaccines.
Individuals are eligible for the program when they provide:
- Documentation of HIV disease,
- Proof of residency in the state of Michigan,
- Proof of gross income, which cannot exceed 500% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL); FPL guidelines are in effect when MIDAP receives the completed application, and
- In some cases, you must have applied for public assistance (Medicaid and/or Adult Benefits Waiver program) with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) within the past 90 days and have a pending, denial, or spend-down status.
MPHI worked with MDHHS to design, build, and test the application. Existing business processes were used, and some business processes were improved during the course of designing the application. The application is integrated with the State of Michigan single sign-on process, and is hosted at the State of Michigan. Different permission levels are built into the application to protect the privacy of the data. MPHI and MDHHS continue to work collaboratively to support and enhance the application, and respond to feedback from users and applicants.
