CONNECTED: A Youth Mental Health Initiative

Centers:

CONNECTED is a two-year initiative that intends to reduce anxiety, depression and suicide among young people aged 10 to 24 in underserved communities, and empowers youth to engage in meaningful change. With support from a private venture philanthropist, and in partnership with Change Matrix, Relias, Watauga Consulting and Youth MOVE National, the National Council for Behavioral Health launched this initiative to increase access to and engagement in quality, appropriate care for youth in underserved communities who experience barriers to mental health supports. Recognizing that efforts driven by and for those they intend to serve are most effective, CONNECTED engages young people with lived experience. Five organizations are piloting approaches and connecting young people in their communities to new types of mental health supports. A comprehensive evaluation, led by MPHI, will illuminate the driving factors that contribute to successful implementation of effective approaches. Lessons learned and resources will be shared nationally in support of empowering communities to enact positive change.
