Jubin Cheruvelil, PhD
Program Director of the Center for Health Equity Practice
Dr. Jubin Cheruvelil serves as the Program Director for the Center for Health Equity Practice at MPHI. He is an Anthropologist and Behavioral Ecologist who enjoys addressing problems at the intersection of human health, lived environment, and culture through a systems framework. He seeks to 1) elucidate the roles and effects of root causes of community health, working collaboratively with underserved and under-resourced communities, 2) advance scientific understanding of the bio behavioral basis of health outcomes, and 3) connect patterns in the human behavior and environment with processes understood through analysis of large data sets, modeling, and simulation. His past work is supported by federal, state and local funders, including competitive and cooperative agreements with US EPA and USDA. Prior to MPHI, Jubin was at MI State University where he served as faculty for the Lyman Briggs College and as Extension Specialist in the Health and Nutrition Institute.
