Women, Infants, and Children Education and Training
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides federal grants to states for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education. The program benefits low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, as well as infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk. Since 1998, MPHI has partnered with MDHHS, Michigan WIC to coordinate and host local provider regional training, live webcasts, specialized trainings and initiatives, and statewide annual conferences to maintain high levels of knowledge, training, and skillsets to best serve Michigan’s WIC eligible citizens.
