MPHI’s Center for National Prevention Initiatives Article, “Firearm Suicide Among Youth in the United States, 2004-2015,” was Published in the August 2019 Journal of Behavioral Medicine. Suicide is the leading cause of death among children in the United States and 37% of suicides are caused by firearms. This article examines data from the National Fatality Review Case Reporting System (NFR-CRS) and has determined that strategies to limit firearm access, particularly for “Greater Risk” youth, should be the focus of suicide prevention efforts.
