The Interactive Solutions Group (ISG) leverages technology and our experienced staff to develop solutions for public-sector agencies and health care organizations by creating efficient and effective ways to exchange information, automate business processes, manage change, communicate to partners, and deliver training. ISG is committed to improving health care by advancing the adoption of Health Information Technology and facilitating Health Information Exchange. ISG is affiliated with Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange, National Medicaid EDI Healthcare Workgroup, Council on Affordable Quality Healthcare, Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange, National Council for Prescription Drug Programs, X12 (an ANSI accredited standards committee), Health Level 7, and the American Immunization Registry Association.

Mr. Weihl is responsible for the daily operation, ongoing performance, and business development of the organization including MPHI’s practice in healthcare informatics, health data interchange, and online learning services. Mr. Weihl has 10 years of information technology project management in government health care, 3 years of experience in communication/outreach with Michigan Medicaid provider groups on uniform billing conversion, and national implementation of electronic transaction standards for immunization data registries.

Mr. Alberts currently leads the team responsible for the development and delivery of training for the new Medicaid web-based system as well as providing training support for the new Mi-WIC web-based system. He brings skills in the areas of process improvement, human performance technology, leadership, training and project management to MPHI. In addition, Mr. Alberts has several years of experience working for non-profit organizations in leadership, training and social work roles and continues to hold State of Michigan licensure as a Social Worker.

Mr. Allison is responsible for relationship management with ISG-MPHI’s major clients. Mr. Allison has over twenty years experience in the health care industry working as the provider, payer and consultant. In addition, he also has ten years of systems and telecom project management experience and twelve years of non-system project related experience. In his years with MPHI he has done healthcare system reform work with the Department of Corrections, managed programmatic launches such as MIRx Pharmacy Assistance Program, Transition program for Medicare Part D, and HIPAA Transaction conversation for the Medicaid program. In the area of Web development projects he has over seen the Medicaid Eligibility system and Michigandrugprices.com. Mr. Allison has also authored numerous Advance Planning Documents and grants gaining funding for projects such as the new Medicaid Management Information System, One Source Credentialing Project, Vital Records Integration, FCC Rural Broadband Pilot and numerous RFPs for MDCH and MDOC.

Ms. Cornish is responsible for ensuring the preparation and completion of projects to appropriate quality standards, within time and cost constraints as well as meeting contractual requirements. She is currently responsible for initiation and implementation of the One Source Credentialing Project for the Medicaid Transformation Grant. Ms. Cornish has 13 years combined experience in project management, records, and document and information management with emphasis in business analysis, process and workflow improvement, and requirements gathering. She has been involved in successful implementation of information technology projects including system and software upgrades, data migration, and innovative software implementation.

Ms. Coyle assists with project and program analysis and coordination and implementation of internal processes as Project Operations Manager for the Interactive Solutions Group (ISG). She also serves as Senior Business Analyst for the Michigan Health Information Exchange (MiHIN) Resource Center and is Michigan’s project manager and national co-chair for the Office of National Coordinator’s (ONC’s) Health Information Security and Privacy Collaboratives (HISPC’s) Harmonization of Privacy and Security Law Collaborative work group. Ms. Coyle was formerly MPHI’s Privacy Officer and Chair of the Privacy Panel, as well as serving on the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Her legal background includes work with the Michigan Pension Rights Project and The Innocence Project. Ms. Coyle was lead analyst for MDCH’s HIPAA Security Rule implementation project, drafting Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act compliant security policies and procedures and developing computer based privacy training for MDCH.

Larry Doele

For the past 32 years Larry Doele has been working in the healthcare arena. Larry has extensive experience in product management, operations, sales and marketing and product development. Larry has worked both in the not for profit and for profit environment. Larry initially started his career working with disabled individuals by managing a Sheltered Workshop for the Developmentally Disabled. Larry then spent 18 years with Intracorp, a for profit rehabilitation company, moving from providing direct service to injured individuals to managing the entire Disability Management Business Unit. Larry grew this business unit form $93 million to $123 million in three years. Larry then went into the software application industry working as Director of National accounts for MEDecision a provider of utilization and case management software applications for Health Insurance Companies. At MEDecision Larry was responsible for fourteen national accounts insuring over 30 million individuals though out the United States. At present Larry is responsible for all Electronic Communications for MPHI. This includes building and maintaining Online Learning Courses, Video Conferencing Services, Webinar Services and Rich Media Webcasting Services. Larry provides strong customer consulting abilities and works with each customer individually to determine the one method of Electronic Communication Service that will meet the need they face in communicating with the public, vendors or staff.

Ms. Korten has 12 years of experience in public health education, provider training, and technical assistance. She oversees implementation of the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR) Support Project. She is responsible coordinating project work with the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH), subcontractors and six regional offices. Ms. Korten develops online and print training materials for the MCIR Web application. She analyzes MCIR data utilizing Oracle’s Discoverer ad-hoc query/reporting tool, and trains regional staff on data quality improvement techniques and Discoverer usage. She also manages the state MCIR Helpdesk along with the testing and approval of electronic immunization data files from health systems. Ms Korten is involved in the American Immunization Registry Association (and) has served as a subject matter expert for the development of AIRA publications in regard to data quality.

Ms. McCardel is responsible for HIPAA transaction standards compliance, policy support and project management. Ms. McCardel currently is the Team Lead for the Member Services Team (Customer Relationship Management subsystem) on MDCH’s MMIS replacement project known as CHAMPS. She has been responsible for/involved in numerous initiatives MPHI has provided for the MDCH including HIPAA Local Code remediation, Home Help Project involving an audit response, interagency agreement and RFP, Coordination of Benefits Project, Payment Error Rate Measurement Project, research and analysis of top high cost beneficiaries, development of the Medicaid Program’s Annual Report and participation in CAQHs’ CORE (Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange). Ms. McCardel is actively involved in WEDI and X12. She has extensive experience in research, development and implementation of healthcare policy, HIPAA transaction standards, and reimbursement/claim adjudication methodologies. She has strong communication skills, is a Subject Matter Expert on the National Provider Identifier and is a noted speaker on NPI issues.

Mr. Shaw is responsible for ensuring the preparation and completion of projects to appropriate quality standards, within time and cost constraints as well as meeting contractual requirements. Mr. Shaw was an integral contributor to the research, development and final submission of a Telehealth/telemedicine proposal to the FCC. Mr. Shaw is the former Manager of Technology for the MSU College of Law, with six years experience in network design and maintenance and security. He has worked with LAN, WAN, Internet2, and NLAR on telecommunication projects involving voice, video and data.
